The Biggest Games Coming in October 2026
October is packed with major releases, from Gears of War: E-Day and Final Fantasy Resonance to Phantom Blade Zero
The Biggest Games Coming in October 2026
October 2026 is going to be a significant month for gamers.
There are plenty of games to look forward to, with several popular franchises returning and a number of highly anticipated new titles scheduled to come out throughout the month.
Furthermore, with the much-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI scheduled for November, October becomes an even more interesting month for major game releases. There are plenty of developers bringing their games to players before GTA VI arrives, which makes the next few weeks particularly busy for the gaming industry.
The following are some of the biggest games scheduled to be released this October.
Gears of War: E-Day
One of the biggest games coming out this month is Gears of War: E-Day.
As its name indicates, the game is a prequel that centres on Emergence Day, one of the most important events in the history of the Gears of War universe.
The game is scheduled to be released on October 6 for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
The Gears of War series has been one of Microsoft's most important gaming franchises for many years, so returning to such an important moment in its history is naturally going to attract a lot of attention.
It is also a chance for fans to see Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago much earlier in the story.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer
If you are a fan of Star Wars and are looking for something that is a little lighter, Star Wars: Galactic Racer is another game worth paying attention to.
This racing game is scheduled to be released on October 6 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The game will allow players to race across different environments while using vehicles inspired by the famous galaxy far, far away.
It is certainly very different from Gears of War, but that is part of what makes October interesting.
There is a little bit of everything coming this month.
Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival
Things become considerably more frightening with Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival.
The survival horror game is scheduled to arrive in October and will bring the famous Hellraiser universe into an interactive experience. Pinhead will also return, with Doug Bradley reprising his role.
Hellraiser has always been associated with disturbing horror, so it makes sense that this game is being released around Halloween.
For horror fans, this could be one of the more interesting releases of the month.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve – Annihilation
Another major game arriving in October is Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve – Annihilation.
The latest entry in the long-running combat flight series is scheduled for October, giving players another opportunity to take to the skies and engage in large-scale aerial battles.
Ace Combat has built a dedicated following over the years, and the new game gives the series another opportunity to attract both longtime fans and new players.
It also adds a completely different type of experience to an already crowded month.
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse
October will also bring another major return with Castlevania: Belmont's Curse.
The game is scheduled to be released on October 15, and it follows Rose Belmont as she investigates a mysterious castle that has appeared in the heart of Paris.
The game returns to the exploration-focused style associated with classic Castlevania titles, while introducing a new story and setting.
For fans of the franchise, seeing another Castlevania game return to that style should certainly be interesting.
Final Fantasy Resonance
A further major release scheduled for this month is Final Fantasy Resonance.
The game is set to arrive on October 22 for PC and consoles.
Final Fantasy remains one of Square Enix's most recognisable franchises, and every major new entry attracts considerable attention from RPG fans.
The October release also gives players another major RPG to choose from during what is already an extremely busy month.
Whether Resonance eventually becomes one of the biggest RPGs of the year remains to be seen, but there is certainly a lot of interest surrounding it.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
We will also see the return of one of the biggest names in the shooting game genre with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
The full game is scheduled to launch on October 23, while players who digitally pre-order will be able to access the campaign from October 16.
Modern Warfare is one of the most recognisable names in Call of Duty, so another entry is naturally going to generate a considerable amount of attention.
The timing is particularly interesting because it arrives only a few weeks before GTA VI.
That means Call of Duty will have to compete with an unusually crowded release period.
Phantom Blade 0
One of the final major games of the month is Phantom Blade 0, which is scheduled to launch on October 29 for PC and PS5.
The action game has generated considerable interest because of its fast-paced combat and stylish presentation.
It is also one of the games that has managed to stand out despite the enormous number of major releases arriving during the same period.
If the game delivers on what has been shown so far, Phantom Blade 0 could become one of the more memorable action games of the month.
Why October Is Worth Looking Forward To
October is interesting not only because of the number of games being released.
It is also the final major month before Grand Theft Auto VI arrives in November.
That makes the timing particularly important.
Games such as Gears of War: E-Day, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, Ace Combat 8, Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, Final Fantasy Resonance, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and Phantom Blade 0 are all competing for players' attention before Rockstar's huge release arrives.
There are also plenty of smaller games arriving throughout the month, meaning that October is not simply about the biggest franchises.
This is why October 2026 could turn out to be one of the busiest months of the gaming year.
For the moment, though, there are plenty of games to enjoy before GTA VI takes over the conversation in November.
How many of these games are you going to play?
