MAHORAGA’S FINAL SPIN?

With Cursed Energy disappearing from Japan’s future, Yuka Okkotsu may be the final Ten Shadows user ever capable of calling the Divine General.

Mahoraga’s wheel turns —one final reminder that adaptation is wonderful until it is the thing adapting to your entire moveset.
Mahoraga’s wheel turns —one final reminder that adaptation is wonderful until it is the thing adapting to your entire moveset.

After six years of adapting, evolving, and making the strongest fighters in Jujutsu Kaisen reconsider their life choices, the Divine General is heading toward a permanent goodbye. And honestly? What the holy beards was that again—how do you retire the series’ most terrifying emergency summon?

The ultimate “try again” machine

Mahoraga was never built to make anyone comfortable.
The Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga—because apparently one terrifying shikigami needed a name long enough to ruin a roll call—was the most fearsome summon within the Zenin Clan’s inherited Ten Shadows Technique. Its defining power was adaptation: survive an attack long enough, let that ominous wheel turn, and Mahoraga begins finding an answer.
A cursed technique?
An energy blast?
Infinity itself?
Mahoraga looks at the enemy’s greatest weapon and asks, “Cool trick. Does it come in a version I can ignore?”
For six years, that premise made it one of Jujutsu Kaisen’s most thrilling battlefield monsters. It debuted in Chapter 117, released on August 11, 2020, after Megumi Fushiguro invoked it during Shibuya’s catastrophe. The catch was brutal: a Ten Shadows user could summon Mahoraga as part of an exorcism ritual, but no previous user had successfully tamed it.
Megumi explained the impossible gamble himself:
“You can't use a Shikigami unless you exorcise it. But you can still summon them in an attempt to exorcise them. Not a single Ten Shadows user has been able to exorcise this one. With this treasure, I summon…”
That line became a danger alarm for the entire fandom.
Whenever someone said, “With this treasure, I summon—,” everybody knew the fight had officially left the reasonable neighbourhood.

A farewell hidden in Modulo

In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, set 68 years after the Shinjuku Raid, Mahoraga returned through Yuka Okkotsu, a Ten Shadows user carrying a legacy so dangerous it has more baggage than an airport on a holiday weekend.
Her encounter with Dabura Karaba became the Shikigami’s latest—and, based on the story’s new direction, potentially final—major stand.
Dabura is no ordinary opponent. He is identified as the strongest of the Simurian race and is treated as a combatant on Ryomen Sukuna’s level. He possesses Murderous Intent, an inherited alien killing instinct, along with Light, a technique he pushes toward sunlight-level speed. Yet even that was not enough to simply erase Mahoraga. The Divine General began adapting to Dabura’s extraterrestrial nature itself.
The narrator framed the situation with appropriate “this is above everyone’s pay grade” energy:
“Dabura Karaba's technique. - and Light. - is an ancient and vast killing instinct brought to life that is passed down through the Deskunte tribe, and its name is impossible for humans to pronounce. For the first time in history, Mahoraga's adaptation against an extraterrestrial being begins.”  — Narrator
Let that sink in.
Mahoraga was not merely adapting to a spell, a slash, or a cursed-energy trick. It was trying to adapt to an alien existence and a power system humans could not even pronounce correctly.
Who left the bags of idiots open and let the adaptation wheel fight outer space?
Still, the encounter did not end with Dabura crushing Mahoraga. Dabura activated his Domain Expansion, Other World Between Darkness and Light: Reverse Transcendence, trapping Mahoraga inside. But before the fight’s conclusion could be fully shown, Maru used Chaos and Order to send Dabura back to Simuria, cancelling the exorcism ritual and saving Yuka. Mahoraga was deactivated along with the ritual.
The last confirmed major sighting came in Modulo Chapter 21, released on February 9, 2026. It left Mahoraga adapting, Dabura evolving, and readers staring at the unfinished fight like they had just been handed a meal with the final bite removed.

Why the wheel may stop forever

The really painful part is not simply that Mahoraga’s latest battle ended without a clean finish.
It is that Modulo changes the future conditions that allowed Mahoraga to exist at all.
In Chapter 24, Yuji Itadori and Maru remove Cursed Energy from Japan’s next generation. The consequence is enormous: future people will no longer be born with Cursed Techniques. No inherited techniques. No new Ten Shadows users. No future sorcerer with the necessary power to summon Mahoraga.
Yuji accepts the weight of that decision:
“I'm going to live for another 300 or so years. I will handle whatever follows. And if necessary, I'll bear the consequences of this great sin.”
The move may be meant for the greater good—an attempt to end the cycle of cursed power, suffering, and children being drafted into supernatural violence.
But it also comes at a price.
Removing Cursed Energy does not just silence the curses. It ends an entire strange ecosystem of abilities, clans, techniques, and impossible creatures. The Limitless fades from the future. Blood Manipulation fades. The Ten Shadows fades.
And Mahoraga fades with it.
If Yuka is the final person who can summon the Divine General, then Mahoraga’s eventual end is tied to hers. When she dies, the chain breaks. There will be no next user waiting in the wings, no new generation facing that wheel, no desperate teenager about to say the cursed phrase and unleash one of fiction’s most effective “I have made this everybody’s problem” buttons.

Could Yuka tame it first?

The story may still have one final twist available.
Yuka has not been confirmed to have fully tamed Mahoraga. In the Ten Shadows system, a user must exorcise a shikigami in a ritual to earn control over it. Historically, no Zenin Clan member succeeded with Mahoraga. Sukuna remains the only confirmed individual to defeat and tame it, though he did so while inhabiting Megumi’s body. Whether Megumi himself ultimately inherited that completed taming remains uncertain.
Yuka, however, has something earlier Ten Shadows users did not:
Rika
The Queen of Curses gives Yuka an overwhelming ally whose raw strength could potentially make the impossible exorcism achievable. Rather than relying on the other Ten Shadows shikigami—normally nowhere close to Mahoraga’s level—Yuka could have Rika deliver the kind of punishment needed to defeat the Divine General before its adaptation becomes unmanageable.
The original report notes that this makes Yuka a credible candidate to become the first true Ten Shadows user to tame Mahoraga through her own strength and strategy. If she succeeds, she would possess both Rika and a fully controlled Divine General—an arrangement so disrespectfully overpowered that the remaining jujutsu world might need to file a formal complaint.
But even that victory would be temporary in the grand scheme.
Yuka could become Mahoraga’s greatest master.
She could carry its power into the last days of Cursed Energy.
And still, she may be the final person in history allowed to do so.

Mahoraga was the test

Mahoraga did not have the emotional complexity of Yuji, Gojo’s tragic loneliness, or Sukuna’s spectacularly evil charisma.
It was a test.
A living combat riddle.
The answer to the question: What happens when your enemy adapts faster than your imagination?

Sukuna fought it in Shibuya and overcame it through overwhelming force and tactical understanding. Gojo dealt with Mahoraga during his battle against Sukuna, where its adaptation ultimately became one of the keys to breaking through Infinity. Then Modulo brought it against Dabura, forcing the Divine General to confront a form of power beyond Earth’s familiar jujutsu rules.
That progression tells its own story.
Mahoraga was the monster called whenever the ceiling needed to be shattered. It was the measuring stick for the impossible. If you could beat it, you were no longer just strong—you were operating in the sort of league where “collateral damage” becomes a polite understatement.
GameRant handled the original lore excavation; I merely arrived with the pepper and watched the wheel spin hard enough to make the power-scaling council request emergency therapy. The source’s central conclusion is bittersweet: Yuji’s choice to remove Cursed Energy may make Yuka Okkotsu the last Mahoraga user, ending the Divine General’s presence in any future Jujutsu Kaisen era.
Maybe that is fitting.
Mahoraga existed to adapt.
But even the greatest adapter cannot survive a future where the system that summoned it no longer exists.
One final wheel-turn.
One final impossible fight.
Then silence.
